Problem with PDF

Postby User369 » Sat Mar 12, 2011 6:31 pm

Hi there,

I'm using Joomla 1.5.22 with the actual version of Multi Categories.

When I'm going to create a pdf-file out of joomla (native) the link shows:
http://domainname/filename?format=pdf

PDF works!

When I'm going to create a pdf-file out of a multicategory the link shows:
http://domainname/filename/pdf

The only thing happens is that my browser opens a new page with the same content as before.

Is there a solution? Is there a way to change the link in the code?
Thank you for your help!

Greetings

Hi,

I think there is a conflict with another extension installed on your site because as you can see on our site all the pdf links looks like http://milkdev.com/en/blog/14-multicategories-component-for-joomla15-version-108-released/pdf and everything is ok with them :!:

To find out what exactly is causing the problem try to turn off your system plugins one by one and then check out you pdf links

Perfect!!!!

You made my Day!

I did it the way you described.

Don't use multicategories with these two plugins, otherwise pdf will not work.

- Content - Core Design Downloader plugin
- Content - Core Design Scriptgrator plugin

I don't know why I had to try these two plugins.
I can't see the changes....

Multicategories is great!

Thank you so much!

Hello Mike,

I noticed another problem:

When Add suffix to URLs is set to Yes in the Global Joomla Configuration, instead of
http://domainname/filename/pdf or http://domainname/filename.pdf
http://domainname/filename/pdf.html link is generated...

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks!

Hi,

actually it's not bug. It's standard Joomla! behaviour to add suffixes to any internal link (it doesn't matter if it link to pdf or regular page)

think to fix it you need either to use 3rd party SEF Component or to make custom modifications to your site

Well...

Joomla does not add .html to the PDFs...
The link created by Joomla looks like this:
http://domainname/..../articlename.pdf

How do you convert something into a PDF file? I am sending resumes to possible employers, and am required to send them in a PDF format. How do I convert a word document file into a PDF? Is there a special program or does it involve copying and pasting?

There is a lot of software that suits your needs, for example DoPDF. Just search google for it
